Our Motion Design class met and collaborated with an assigned Fashion Major whose work was competing in Project Runway. We were to design a short animation based off their collection as well as edit a short interview clip.
The desginer I collaborated with was Tomiko Harris. Her collection entitled "Chaotic Cortex" which had to do with mental disorders such as anixety and depression. Her prints were based off brain scans and inspired by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Her prints represent drawings and paintings that people with aniexty and/or depression may create when dealing with their disorders. I further developed this idea, that the prints represent the art work being created such people. My solution was to animate the two patterns she created as if they were being created right there and then. The animation morphs various elements of her prints into one another. I set out to give the animation a hand-rendered feeling which led me to rotoscope the enire sequence.
